Sunday Nights

How do you spend your Sunday evenings?

For many people in pressurised jobs, Sunday nights are the toughest of the week. It may be hard to fall asleep, or you may wake up around 3AM but not be able to get back to sleep again.

Does this sound familiar?

As a therapist and mentor, I have been working with people in high-pressure positions for 2.5 years now, and so many of my clients find it hard to enjoy Sundays because of the anxiety of the week ahead. Having run a successful business for a few years in the fast-paced world of recruitment, I have experienced the Sunday issue myself too, and know the detrimental effects it can have on life at home.

Perhaps SOME Sunday night worries are ok, and normal. A bit like getting nervous before an exam, as it helps you to focus. But…when it starts to affect your ability to sleep, or the Sunday worries begin to creep earlier and earlier into the afternoon, then maybe it is a sign that something needs to change.

What if you could get your Sundays back?

What if you could enjoy the WHOLE weekend, staying relaxed and being fully present with your partner, family and friends?

What if you could wake up on Monday morning feeling energised, confident and excited, with a clear plan for the week ahead?

The secret? Talking to someone.

Actually speaking out loud, to a qualified professional, who is completely separate from family, friends and colleagues, and who is a highly attuned listener with no agenda of their own, other than to help you.

Talk aloud about your plan for the week ahead. Review what went well (and badly) last week. Rant about things and people who have annoyed you. Air your frustrations. Express your self-doubts and insecurities. Talk about your worries, and about things that are going on outside of work that are playing on your mind. Discover new strategies, uniquely tailored to you, to calm your natural stress response. It is so much healthier to get these things off your chest, and to feel heard, than to keep all these thoughts and feelings inside.

In addition to my normal 50-minute sessions, I am going to start offering shorter, 30-minute sessions later this month too, to help people work on ways to improve their Sundays. I will be sharing more details about this soon, and if you like the sound of something like this in principle please get in touch and I am happy to have a free, private initial call with you.

However things went for you last night, I hope you have a great week ahead!
